Longford Dance - The 119th Dinner Dance will be held on Sunday March 14th at the Astoria World Manor. The Guest of Honor is Ballinalee native Peter Maguire, Distinguished Service Award goes to Killoe native Joe Kelly and the Recognition Award to County Councillor Martin Mulleady from Drumlish. The Cocktail Hour will begin at 4:00 pm followed by presentation to our honorees and deluxe choice dinner. The band for the evening is the New York Show Band.

Towns and Villages of Co. Longford
Longford,, Longphort, Fortress
On the river Camlin and on the main Dublin Sligo Road. It seems to have come into existence sometime in the 14th century. It is the County's administrative center and also is a very busy business town.
Some places of interest in the town include St. Mel's Cathedral built in the 1840's in Renaissance style; Longford Museum open 1991, Renaissance style courthouse which dates to 1791; modern library; St. Mel's College; Celtic Cross on Market Square which commemorates 284 Longford Men killed in World War I.
Situated: Dublin 78 miles, Sligo 58 miles, Athlone 29 miles.

With an area of 1,091 km (421 square miles) and a population of 34,361, it is one of Ireland’s smallest counties. Agricultural activities include cattle and sheep rearing, and the production of oats and potatoes.

Membership
- Any person of Longford birth or descent, who has attained their eighteenth birthday or any man or woman who is married to a person of Longford birth or heritage and found to be of good moral character shall be eligible for membership upon favorable report from the investigating committee and approval of the membership of the Association.
- Meetings are held on the second Friday of the Month from September to June at 7.30pm at the Liederkrantz Club 6 East 87 St New York City except the June meeting.Location will be announced in our Newsletter and on our website. Membership fee is $25.00 per year.
